Synthwave Music Universe Building

If any genres really fit the never ending concept mold, it’s prog rock, heavy metal, orchestral soundtracks, and 80’s synthwave music. The blend of these genres sound very dystopian and post-apocalyptic. Interested in the idea of a never ending concept? Check out the intro blog post. And here’s a trailer to get you ready for Scythe Phase 2.

The trailer features an unreleased Jon of the Shred track. (It’s so unreleased I never named it.) The track is a blend of synthwave and orchestral film scores. Short and sweet.

I have a lot of ideas on where to take the universe. All kinds of unique stories. Stick around and keep your synthwave addiction fed. Need to get that synth monkey off your back, do ya? There’s enough synthwave to cover a mirror in white lines! Who’s got the rolled up $2 bill ready?

Here’s the trailer. Be sure to check out the music, art, and stories sections. And head over to the credits page too. You can check out all the great synthwave artists who worked on this.

There’s a lot of work to be done on the website front, but my intention is to make the content as interactive and engaging as possible. Thankfully, due to my new job, I have a lot of time on my hands to be productive.

I feel the time is perfect to start really fleshing out the Scythe lore. How the albums interact, intersect, and collide is part of the fun. If you’re into the dark side of synthwave, this never ending concept album should be very entertaining. Be on the look out for updates here. Lore, timelines, concept art, new synthwave albums, short stories and more.

The popularity of the Stranger Things soundtrack runs high. Fast classics like Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Hotline Miami are forever etched in our pop culture. And the era that inspired it all holds up as well as ever. The future looks bright for synthwave music. And Scythe will be proud to stand among the rest of the collective offering something a bit different.
